  1. Zabian Dowdell scored a career high 33 points putting him just 4 points behind Bill Matthews for 10th on VT’s all time scoring list.
  2. After finishing -14 on rebounds in the 1st meeting, VT actually won the battle of offensive rebounds in this match-up (15-14) and were only out-rebounded by 2 against the #1 rebounding team in the nation (+9.9 per game coming in).
  3. VT is now 15-1 when scoring 69+ points this season.
  4. VT is 5-0 when leading at the first TV timeout.
  5. unc shot just 3/17 on three’s (18%).
  6. The Hokies are 3-0 in OT games this year.
  7. Deron Washington had his 3rd double-double of the year (12 points, 14 boards).  miami and uva were the others.
  8. Tech shot just 38% from the field, their 2nd worst effort all season (behind nc state).  Deron was just 5/15, Coleman 3/10, and A.D. 2/10.  Cheick was 4/6.
  9. VT tied their best output of offensive rebounds in ACC play (15).
  10. The Hokies had their 2nd most rebounds total in ACC action (43, behind 47 vs md).

Bonus: VT is the first team to win at unc and duke in the same season since 1996 (ga tech)!!!

Niemo is a member of the VT Class of '98. Attended every home basketball game during his 4 years at VT after missing the first home game. Has attended 122 straight VT football home games (every game since '94), eclipsing the 100 mark in September of '09. During the final home basketball game of his senior year, he was brought onto the court and was awarded 2 passes to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament in Philly during a timeout. The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo. Niemo currently lives in DC and speaks the Hokie gospel as often as possible. He watches over 50% of all ACC games, making him one of the most knowledgeable experts on ACC basketball.
