In Game Commentary | @ n.c. state

I’ll be doing In Game Commentary for today’s game since TV coverage is limited.

Second Half:
4:13 Gavin Grant sinks another guarded 3 at the shot clock buzzer. This In Game Commentary is over!

4:46 ncsu 74 VT 54
Quit calling time outs! I am running out of things to type.

5:11 Will Seth get a T? This is a good game for one.

7:03 ncsu 72 VT 52
Second 3 ball of the game today, both by Vassallo

7:59 ncsu 72 VT 49
Check out our current lineup –> Munson, Krab, Sailes, Tucker, and Gordon. Probably haven’t seen that since the West Florida game.

8:29 ncsu 72 VT 49
Krabbendam just made two jump shots. We’ve cut the lead to 23 – Woohoo!

11:48 ncsu 68 VT 40
Ok, now I am hoping we don’t lose as bad as Nebraska did against Kansas yesterday (53 points)

13:47 The fat lady is singing … Costner makes a NBA 3 with the shot clock going down

15:16 ncsu 58 VT 37
Before Dowdell’s drive, Diakite gets dunked on AGAIN by Grant!

15:43 There it is! Dowdell is now tenth on the all-time scoring list. He needs 3 more to become ninth to pass Bryant Matthews.

16:17 ncsu 56 VT 35
This is absolutely ridiculous. They can’t miss … add to that poor defense, and we are going to get blown out of this one. Next 8 minutes are critical. We need to trim this lead to single digits or it’s over.

Halftime:
nscu 45 VT 33
Gavin Grant dunks over Diakite to end the half. The pack shot 69% in the first half. They got a lot of open jump shots and have more points off turnovers. ncsu also has more rebounds than Tech (11-7). They are 5 of 9 from behind the arc. Tech is 1 of 3. Dowdell has 4 points to tie him for tenth in all-time scoring, but Gordon is leading the team today with 11 points. He is 5 of 6 from the field. Let’s hope Coleman’s return sparks some defensive intensity otherwise state will get the best of us for the second time this year.

First Half:
2:25 ncsu 41 VT 31
Very poor shot selection in the last series and besides the amazing shooting by state, it has really hurt having Coleman out since the first TV timeout. Krabbendam is getting more PT in the first half than he does in most games, and McCauley is eating him alive. He has 9 points and 2 boards.

5:51 ncsu 32 VT 29
Big Three by Vassallo. Dowdell is 3 away from breaking into the Top 10 of all-time scoring.

7:47 ncsu 29 VT 23
Gordon drives to the hoop … and one. Those announcers are smart … state’s field goal percentage must come down. That’s why they get paid the big bucks.

10:49 ncsu 24 VT 17
Gordon scores his sixth point. He is leading the offensive attack thus far. Dowdell only has taken one shot thus far. state has been executing on offense without problem until recently. They had 2 unforced turnovers during this last break. Hopefully, this will continue. BTW, if you didn’t notice, we were not leading at the first TV timeout. Leading at this point of the game is usually a good sign.

13:32 ncsu 20 VT 11
So, the pack have still only missed one friggin shot. Tech timeout.

15:41 ncsu 13 VT 9
The wolfpack have come out red hot. They have missed one field goal thus far, and made two threes. Coleman Collins has already contributed more in the first 4 minutes than all of last game (against state). He has 5 points, but just picked up his 2nd foul. ugh.

Witcher gets the start tonight over A.D.

The Hokies experienced their worst season since the ricky "program bomb" stokes era. Sure, it would have been easy to quit on you, but did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL NO!

And we do it for free! But, just like NPR, we rely on the generosity of our loyal fans to help keep this humble Hokie website alive. That being said, see how you can help TechHoops.com make it to 10 years!

Jon King, Ben Floyd and Dan Rickenbach all got in on the action and we encourage all TechHoops heads to do the same.
