- VT held the canes to just 37% shooting and just 30% in the 2nd half.
- Dowdell had 8 rebounds for the 2nd straight game (season high) along with 20 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. He got his hands on many other passes on D.
- Collins had 15 points, his first time in double figures since the ga tech game (7 games ago) and his high total since fsu on 1/17.
- Tech shot 69% in the 2nd half including 2/2 on three’s.
- The Hokies are now 17-1 when scoring 69 or more points.
- Zabian hit multiple three’s (2) for just the 2nd time in the last 11 games.
- miami was just 2/13 on three’s in the 2nd half after being 4/8 in the 1st.
- VT shot 33 FT’s compated to just 14 for the canes.
- Tucker missed a three for the first time all season (he had been 2/2).
- The Hokies notched their 20th win and 10th conference win for the first time since 1995-96 and clinched a first round bye in the ACC Tournament for the 2nd time in 3 years.

Attended every home basketball game during his 4 years at VT after missing the first home game. Has attended 122 straight VT football home games (every game since '94), eclipsing the 100 mark in September of '09.
During the final home basketball game of his senior year, he was brought onto the court and was awarded 2 passes to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament in Philly during a timeout. The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver.
Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo.
Niemo currently lives in DC and speaks the Hokie gospel as often as possible. He watches over 50% of all ACC games, making him one of the most knowledgeable experts on ACC basketball.
