Niemo is a member of the VT Class of '98. Attended every home basketball game during his 4 years at VT after missing the first home game. Has attended 122 straight VT football home games (every game since '94), eclipsing the 100 mark in September of '09. During the final home basketball game of his senior year, he was brought onto the court and was awarded 2 passes to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament in Philly during a timeout. The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo. Niemo currently lives in DC and speaks the Hokie gospel as often as possible. He watches over 50% of all ACC games, making him one of the most knowledgeable experts on ACC basketball.

That’s why we say this is the “Home for the Hardcore Hokie Basketball Fans”. Nothing is more hardcore than arm curling players! The Hokie Celebration was a lot of fun and I encourage everyone to go next year. The only downside was Cheick passing out from the heat. Just need to upgrade the liquor selection next year. Virginia Gentleman bourbon? Please! I wouldn’t serve that to a wahoo.

    Niemo,

Did any of the players object to being held by another grown man?

[Niemo's Reply: Seth did.  He was the only party-pooper.  Actually, Collins didn't want to do it, either, but Tucker talked him into it.]

  • Demari Thompkins

That is Dwatts in the last pic, no?

[Niemo's Reply: Yes, it is the infamous Damon Watlington.  Ran into him outside the event.  He was one of my favorite players while I was at VT.  Sort of a poor man's Zabian Dowdell, although Damon was a very good player and excellent shooter.  Didn't try to arm-curl him, though :-) ]

Man Niemo, no love for the official unofficial photographer. Sad.

[Niemo's Reply: Ha!  My bad.  Much love for the second part of the VIP Crew - Mr. Grant.  For those of you that don't know, Mr. Grant was the original VT bball super fan and I took his title upon his departure in 1996.  And by the way - my back is KILLING me.]

    BTW. Cool pics!

What would Lee say? You’ve left him behind…

I see sweets, but no Uncle Nick :^(

[Niemo's Reply: You have to be there when things start getting a little more loose!]
