Senior Moments | Marcus Travis

r-Senior (Transfer) | Guard | 6’4″ | 205 lbs. | Blacksburg, VA

Today we take a brief look at the career of Marcus Travis, a redshirt-senior who transferred to Virginia Tech from Oxnard Junior College in California. On Monday, we will turn our focus to the only other senior and the 2007-08 face of the VT program: Deron Washington.

Stats: Marcus Travis

He’s a local boy! Three time letter winner at Blacksburg High School. How can you not root for him? I’d love to say more about Marcus than what is mentioned below, but honestly, how much can you say about a guy that’s played 53 total minutes with 7 career points?

Mr. Travis did let me arm-curl him though at the 23rd Annual Hokie Celebration on February 23rd, 2008! Top Row, 2nd Pic from the Left

2007-08:
- Was awarded a scholarship for his senior season.
- Gave up #23 for Malcolm Delaney
- Hit a three against gwu. His second career three-pointer. Marcus’s first and only points of the season (so far, but look out!).
- Had a career high 2 rebounds against unc-g.

2006-07:
- Marcus hit a three against coppin state for his only three points of the season.
- Greenberg did a great thing by letting Marcus play at the end of the wake forest game in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament and in the so-ill game in the 2nd Round of the NCAA Tournament. Now Marcus can tell his grandkids he played in both some day.

2005-06: Scored a bucket against radford (gotta be a big rival to a Blacksburg native… throw out the records… lots of bad blood) for his only points of the year.

He missed all but one game in 2004-05 with tendonitis in his left knee and got a medical redshirt.

Marcus attended Oxnard Junior College and averaged 13 points and six boards before transferring to VT as a walk-on.

Let’s show him our support on Tuesday and pack the Cassell!
