Recruiting | 2009 Verbals Win Region Titles

The Hokies stuck it to uva again, well, sort of. On Saturday night, the #1 Millbrook High School Pioneers (26-1) won the Virginia AA Region II Championship with a victory over charlottesville high school. [Yes, I'm even lower-casing a high school in that town. I'm that evil!] Millbrook is led by 2009 Virginia Tech verbal commitment Erick Green. Erick, Millbrook’s leading scorer and NW District POY, had 11 first half points and finished with 12 for the game. The Pioneers cruised to a 73-60 win and will face Region I runner-up Courtland at jmu at 8 PM on Saturday in the State Quarterfinals.

On Friday night, Hidden Valley (27-1), led by fellow 2009 Hokie verbal Ben Boggs, beat Blacksburg by a 70-61 margin in two overtimes to win the Virginia AA Region IV Championship. Ben had a game-high 22 points, including a three and 5/8 from the line. It was the fourth time this season HV beat the ‘Burg. They could face for a fifth time in the State Final. Hidden Valley will face Region III runner-up R.E. Lee at 7:45 PM on Saturday at Northside H.S. in Roanoke.

The two teams seem to be on a collision course to meet in the Virginia State AA Tournament Final. Virginia State Tournament Brackets
