Chris Smith, a star for the Hokies from 1957-61, will be the Hokie honorary during the 2010 ACC Tournament in Greensboro. Smith was named All-Southern Conference three different times. He was an absolute beast on the boards, grabbing 36 rebounds in one game, 495 in a season, and over 1,500 for his career, all Hokie records that will never be broken! His 1,508 rebounds easily rank #1 in VT history: VT Career Stat Leaders. Smith posted three of the four highest single season rebounding totals in VT history (Ace Custis has the third highest, Chris has #1, 2, and 4).
After being drafted in the NBA Draft he turned down a contract offer to work as an engineer. Imagine that happening today.
