Poll and Bracket Updates

POLLS:

The Hokies still are not ranked (close only counts in… you know), but that’s no shock considering they beat the last place team in the ACC and a team around 90th in the RPI last week in nc state and uva.  So what will it take to get ranked?  Easy – win both games this week.  Well, not easy since those teams, wake and duke, are ranked in the top 11 in the RPI.  If Tech splits this week I bet they make it in assuming they don’t get waxed in the other game.

Tech sits 2nd in the “Others Receiving Votes” category in the AP Poll with 59 points (richmond is #25 with 101 points).  In the Coaches’ Poll VT is the runner up, with 35 points (wake is #25 with 58).  View Polls

BRACKETS:

The Hokies finally made it in Joe Lunardi’s bracket, sitting as the #11 seed in the South, matched up with butler: Bracket

The CBS “expert”, Jerry “Hairy” Palm, bumped the Hokies out this week.  He actually talks in depth about the Hokies if you read his last projection: Palm Jobs the Hokies.  So what does all this tell you?  Tech is far from a lock but can go a long ways towards cementing a spot.  Or they may see it ferment with a rough week.
