Bracketology Update | 3.1.10

Joe Lunardi of ESPN.com still has VT in his bracket.  He has them as a #12 seed, playing wisconsin the Midwest.  The Hokies are one of his “Last Four In” teams: Lunardi Bracket

Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com has Tech as a #11 seed in the East region, playing byu: Palm Bracket

All this shows is that VT is working on the inside.  They control their own destiny, something they really didn’t the last two years (other than making the ACC Finals).  This is a good place to be.  So forget last week, February is over.  It is now March and time to put up or shut up.

What you’re failing to account for is the fact that these brackets are based on the perfect scenario for at-large teams.

Typically, there are 2 or 3 upsets in the conference tournaments in leagues that already have an at-large bid sealed — so the bubble gets shifted down. Being the 3rd-to-last team in is a terrible position – but certainly better than being one of the first four out (which means by the end of the conference tourneys, you’re the 5th-8th out, which leaves you wayyy on the outside).
