Jeff Allen Named ACC Player of the Week

The Big Donut had a gigantic week and was honored as the ACC’s Player of the Week for 1/31 to 2/6.  Jeff scored 40 points and grabbed an eye-popping 30 rebounds to garner the award.  He had 15/11 against nc state and 25/19 at boston college.

This marks the second time this year, and third time in his career, Allen has won the award.  He won it a month ago after scoring 24 and securing 11 rebounds against florida state.  Allen also won player of the week honors a year ago back in December of 2009 for his performances against vmi and penn state.

This is the fourth time a Hokie has won this honor this year, joining Malcolm Delaney and Erick Green.

The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo. Time to turn Jeff loose. This guy’s skill set is so unique & he’s so athletic, there aren’t too many big men in the country, let alone alone the acc, who can guard him. He needs more touches. No excuse for him not to get the ball more when Green & Atkins are going 0-for & Delaney is barely shooting over 30% & we get 6 assists AS A TEAM. That’s on Greenberg. Has a Tech player this good ever been this underappreciated?

King – Yes… back when I was at the Morgan Wooten Bball Camp my team won its first game by 20-something points. After the game, they moved me to the team we had just crushed. We went something like 11-0 the rest of the week, including beating my old team twice, yet I wasn’t named League MVP (it went to a guy that wasn’t on either team I was on). Seriously, no one in the history of mankind was underappreciated more than I was that week.
