The wins keep piling up for the Hokies’ four signees in the 2011 class. The biggest win came at the Scope last night in the Eastern Region semi-finals…
Norcom 54, Kellam 53 – Eastern Region Semis – The Greyhounds narrowly pull out a win in a match-up of the top two teams in the state and punched their ticket for the Virginia AAA State Tournament. Norcom will look to repeat as state champs, but first they’d like to lock up the Eastern Region title on Monday against Phoebus.
Dorian Finney-Smith hit two clutch free throws to put the Greyhounds up 54-50 late. A Kellam 3-pointer and a Norcom turnover gave Kellam a chance at the win, but the inbounds passed turned into a loose ball that ran out the clock.
It was Kellam’s first loss of the season while Norcom improved to 26-1.
Dorian had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Greyhounds.
Two weeks earlier, Finney-Smith had 20 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 blocks to lead Norcom to the Eastern District Championship over Booker T. Washington, avenging their only loss of the season.
