Throw out the records! In one of the greatest rivalries in sports, the Hokies sweep the cowboys, beating them for the 3rd time in 13 months, this time in Stillwater, OK. For the 3rd time in a row it was the Hokies up, Hokies collapse, Hokies win…

OLD MAN RIVER! Also, any idea what’s happening with JVZ? Is he hurt? Is he not healthy? Or is he just undergoing the mundane and arbitrary I don’t use backups even in blowouts Seth Greenberg rule? He can’t be redshirted can he? I don’t know if there is some kind of exception he can file it under to be like “We put him on the floor and messed up. We want a mulligan.” Does such a rule exist? Because I’m pretty bewildered. I mean, I understand he’s not ready for mins against ACC foes, but when we’re blowing ppl out in non-con…NOTHING!? That just doesn’t make sense to me. What if we (god forbid) lose ANOTHER big and need him for the ACC slate. Do we want him going out there with a combined total of 10 mins against 3 scrubs against ACC bigs!?
Niemo
Chris – He’s being redshirted. He had some concussion issues and they shut him down rather than risk him losing a year. You can play in up to 30% of your team’s games (around 9 games), up until the midway point of the season, and still redshirt.

Thanks so much. I had NO idea about that. Hadn’t even heard about it. I knew the rule about the 30%, especially since we have to use it so often. Just wanted to make sure my sneaking suspicion that we were wasting him was wrong. Whew!
Les
It sounds like he’s not working out. They could get him a medical redshirt if there’s really a three-strike rule for concussions.

I’ve been hard on Zo via this site, but the last two games, he’s stepped up… congrats to him on the 1000 point mark in his career!!!

Also, congrats to the team on that +23 rebounding advantage!!! That was sick!!!

No, hokieguru, I’ve been the most hard on him. He definitely delivered (tho’ I still think Green could’ve just as easily won on pts as he was only two behind). Be that as it may I’m still not ready to be sold on him yet. I wanna see his work where it matters most now…ACC.

also Robert Brown did some good things offensively for us, although we did take too many 3′s. and rankin did a good job defensively on paige
Niemo
Ray – good point. When Rankin was put on Page, he got lower than him and gave him some fits. Page is used to being able to work low to the ground and Brown took that away.
