Montrezl Harrell Nearly Outscores the Hokies

2012 VT signee Montrezl Harrell dropped just over 2 quarters on Fishburne Military Academy Thursday night, scoring 51 points and adding 17 rebounds and 6 blocks in a 122-119 overtime win for the Hargrave Military Academy Postgrad team (ARTICLE about the game). The win propelled Hargrave to 28-0 on the season.

You can see all of Montrezl’s stats on his PERSONAL PAGE (LINK).

Harrell is averaging over 22 ppg and just under 10 rebounds on the season.  He will no doubt provide a post presence for the Hokies next year, bringing a similar style as Cadarian Raines into the paint, but with slightly more offensive skills in the post compared to Raines at the same age.

Love the positive news after that depressing 2nd half last night. Thanks. This made me a bit more optimistic about next year. Hopefully, he adjusts quicker than the current group.

Nice to see. Want to take a way too early stab at the depth-chart for next year?

    PG: Green/Rankin
    SG: Eddie/Brown
    SF: DFS/Eddie/Wood
    PF: Barksdale/Harrell
    C : Raines/JVZ

So… do we have 3 roster spots open for next season? We could use another wing and big man. Are we in on anyone? I read a rumor that there we were close with two kids who’d be a package deal, but haven’t read anything about it lately.

Hoping Harrell can make an instant impact and push Barksdale.

25 rebounds as well… can’t wait for the Monster to get to Blacksburg.

There are 2 spots left for 2012. 2 more for 2013.

Olexiy Len looks very good for Maryland. He matches up well with tall lanky centers (like him). Why did VT reject his admission?

Saw this potential center recruit for 2012.

The Wild Hokie Club!

The Hokies experienced their worst season since the ricky "program bomb" stokes era. Sure, it would have been easy to quit on you, but did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL NO!

And we do it for free! But, just like NPR, we rely on the generosity of our loyal fans to help keep this humble Hokie website alive. That being said, see how you can help TechHoops.com make it to 10 years!

Jon King, Ben Floyd and Dan Rickenbach all got in on the action and we encourage all TechHoops heads to do the same.
