Ask and ye shall receive – more updates on Hokies in the pros

Joe asked, “If we are doing updates, what about d washington, ad vassallo, j gordon, and c collins?” Here you go, Joe!

Deron Washington was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 2009 in the 2nd round and was signed to a contract, but eventually released.

Since then, he’s played for the Tulsa 66ers and Los Angeles D of the NBA’s Development League (NBDL), and the Hapoel Holon in Isreal.

Currently, Deron is playing for Blusens Monbus Obraboiro CAB in Spain. The team is near the bottom of the ACB standings at 6-14. Through 20 games, Deron is averaging 17 minutes, 5 points and 3 rebounds per game.

A.D. Vassallo played in 36 games for Mets De Guaynabo of the Puerto Rico-BSN and led the team in scoring with 22.2 points per game. He shot better than 50 percent from the field and average about 7 rebounds a game.

Before the Mets, Vassallo played for ASVEL and Paris-Levallois in France and Isabela and Caguas in Puerto Rico.

Jamon Gordon is still playing, too. Currently he’s with Galatasaray Medical Park in Turkey where he’s played 17 games and is averaging 8 points, 3 boards and 1 steal per game.

Before joining MP he played in Greece for Olympiakos and Marousi; in Croatia for KK Split; and in Germany’s Bundesliga for Koeln 99ers and Artland Dragons Quakenbruek.

Coleman Collins is also still balling. Right now he’s in Bosnia playing for HKK Siroki WWIN where he’s played in 18 games and is averaging 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Before Croatia, Coleman had a cup of tea with the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. He’s also done time in the D league for Ft. Wayne. His overseas career includes two teams in Germany – Ratiopharm ULM and ENBW Ludwigsburg.

If you have more information about any of these players or other Hokies in the pros, let us know. Or, if there is another player you’d like to know about, send us the name and we’ll do our best. It’ll cost you a bottle of Wild Turkey, but we also take cash.

Thanks! Glad to bear they’re all still playing ball. Loved all 4 of those guys. Great Hokies!

  2. Great to hear! Thanks for all the info. I always look into it but can’t read the foreign languages required to navigate the sites/read the stats.

Great stuff, guys. Thanks! You might consider adding a page dedicated to “where they are now…”

Thanks for this. Interesting. I like hokiegrad suggestion of “where are they now” section? But, it’s easy to ask for something that doesn’t cost me anything. Ha! Of course once you set it up you only have to edit it once a year when players move.
