During the final home basketball game of his senior year, he was brought onto the court and was awarded 2 passes to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament in Philly during a timeout for being a "Super Fan" during his time at VT. The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo.

What does anyone know about the 2012 guard from Maryland that has reportedly agreed to accept a scholarship to play at Tech? Techsideline has posted it on their site.

    • Les says:

Basically, coaches Byington and Williams are bringing aboard players they were recruiting for their previous schools.

The period for signing the letter of intent is over for 2012 and not till possibly November for 2013.

He would be applying for admission to the university which would be processed pending approvals for his scholarship offer, if such an offer has been extended.

    • Max says:

According to GobblerCountry’s twitter, VT never made an offer to Stanback…

Shooting guard Melvin Johnson is back on the market after getting his release from University of Miami. He was very high on Virginia Tech’s list of guards thy were recruiting.

Am I the only one who wants us to save scholarships for getting players for 2013? I’d rather save up and get players we actually want instead of just trying to fill spots for this year. We NEED a good, solid big man in 2013 for the future. JVZ isn’t gonna cut it

  4. King says:

Two leading scorers from UCF are eligible to transfer & play immediately. One is 6’9″, Clanton, and the other is Marcus Jordan, son of Michael. Let’s take ‘em both.
