Game Highlights | VT 95, vmi 80

Highlights from Virginia Tech’s Thursday night win over the keydets of vmi.  Included is Erick Green’s 1,000th point!  The 43rd Hokie to reach that feat.

Please note the highlights say Monday’s game is at home but the game is at unc-g-spot to give the Hokies some practice playing in the Greensboro Coliseum before the ACC Tournament.

Niemo is a member of the VT Class of '98. Attended every home basketball game during his 4 years at VT after missing the first home game. Has attended 122 straight VT football home games (every game since '94), eclipsing the 100 mark in September of '09. During the final home basketball game of his senior year, he was brought onto the court and was awarded 2 passes to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament in Philly during a timeout. The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo. Niemo currently lives in DC and speaks the Hokie gospel as often as possible. He watches over 50% of all ACC games, making him one of the most knowledgeable experts on ACC basketball.

Thanks for the highlights. I really like how the team is playing so far (even if it IS against inferior competition). Great use of The XX in the highlights as well!

This VT team is the kind of VT team I have wanted to see for so very, very long.

The fact is that you only get points for doing one thing in the game of basketball, and that’s putting the ball through the hoop. So I absolutely love guys who are good shooters. Having a team with multiple players who can consistently ring the bell when they get an open look at the basket can make up for deficiencies in other areas and take a team a long, long way.

With Erick Green, Robert Brown, Jarrell Eddie, Marshall Wood and Will Johnston, this VT team has FIVE guys in who I have 100% confidence in taking an open 3-point shot. As an alumnus and fan who’s followed VT basketball closely for well over 30 years now, this is the first time I’ve ever been able to say that.
