GUARANTEED VicTory!

Spread: VT by 1.

I’ll say it again – I’m guaranteeing a Virginia Tech Hokies’ victory on Saturday over the lesser tech in the battle for 11th Place! It’s the Blacksburg Mega Bowl! Why am I guaranteeing a victory?

  • VT is 7-0 all time against georgia tech in the Cassell, including 5-0 in ACC play
  • Tech is 14-4 all time against tech, including 10-3 in all ACC games
  • The Hokies are 8-1 in ACC short-turnaround games (games played less than 48 hours after VT’s last ACC game — which obviously is the case here since VT just played maryland 38 hours earlier), including this buzzer beater over gt last year – DORENZO HUDSON BEATS THE buzzER
  • The lesser tech is 8-52 in their last 60 ACC road games. Paul Hewitt was 7-41, and since winning his first ACC road game at gt, Brian Gregory is now 1-11 away from the ATL.

What’s the Guarantee Worth? If Virginia Tech loses to the jackets on Saturday, we will do something we have never done here at TechHoops.com, not even once in our more than 6-year history — we will capitalize our opponent’s name in the subsequent articles and put Virginia Tech in lower case. Hey, it is a big deal to us and I’m tired of having to donate to random charities like the American Eagle Fund after I guarantee wins over bc and we lose, or even worse, having to wear homemade uva gear to a VT/uva game.

Thing to Watch: I’m betting that georgia tech will press some. They used a full court trap against the noles at times on Tuesday with great success, causing 3 or 4 turnovers. They have more depth than the Hokies. Given that VT just played 38 hours ago, and especially if Marquis Rankin is still out with the flu, then the jackets will likely attack VT’s lack of depth at guard and their tired legs.

I wish you wouldn’t do that; all it ever guarantees is a bad loss.

    • Niemo

      I guarantee I won’t make anymore guarantees. I promise.

Karma is indeed a bitch. Just a couple weeks after we looked upon the hapless
semiholes with derision for trailing boova with only 15 points at the half, what
the hell do the hokies do? Trail the buzzerds with only 17 in the first
    half.

When I first saw your “guaranteed win” post, I thought, oh crap. “Guaranteed
win” by the chokies? Think not. Nothing is ever “guaranteed” for VT. Hate to
say this, Niemo, but it looks like a jinx.
