Game Video | Georgia Tech 64, virginia tech 54

The hokies lose their 6th straight ACC game, their longest streak ever since joining the league.  They also lost to a Georgia Tech team that had lost 11 straight ACC road games and 24 of 26 ACC games away from home, and were 0-7 all time in Blacksburg.  To make matters worse, Erick Green had to be helped off the floor after suffering from exhaustion at the end of the game.

Niemo is a member of the VT Class of '98. Attended every home basketball game during his 4 years at VT after missing the first home game. Has attended 122 straight VT football home games (every game since '94), eclipsing the 100 mark in September of '09. During the final home basketball game of his senior year, he was brought onto the court and was awarded 2 passes to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament in Philly during a timeout. The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo. Niemo currently lives in DC and speaks the Hokie gospel as often as possible. He watches over 50% of all ACC games, making him one of the most knowledgeable experts on ACC basketball.

Ok, we’re now way past the “players need to play better stage”. It’s on JJ, there is a coaching problem.

It’s characteristic of all Weaver basketball hires in the last few years. Need a new basketball coach? Just look down the hall. Oh, hey, Dennis Wolff…ever coached a women’s team before? No? Well, don’t worry about…you’re hired! Oh, hey, James Johnson, ever been a head coach before? No? Not even at the high school level? Well, don’t worry about it…you’re hired! Get Weaver out of there!!! He’s a football guy…plain and simple. He has no regard for the basketball program and it’s killing us.

King – agree with you 100%. Weaver must go… see more on that Monday.

They never got anything from the big men in the 1st half (probably due to the
short turnaround), and that killed the offense. Miami started out the same in
the 9 pm night game but their big men got over the hump. We just don’t have
      anyone but Raines.

Rankin and Eddie didn’t contribute, which forced Brown to
      take more shots than usual.
