Erick Green Highlights | wake forest 90, Hokies 79

Here are some of the game, but mostly Erick Green’s, highlights from wake’s 90-79 win over the Hokies on Sunday.

Erick did move into 10th on the Virginia Tech career scoring list during the game with 1,727 points (passing Ace Custis), set a single season points mark for VT with 786 points (passing Bimbo Coles’s of 1989-90), and tied his career single game high of 35 points.

Marquis Rankin also chipped in a career high 15 points (not shown).

Niemo is a member of the VT Class of '98. Attended every home basketball game during his 4 years at VT after missing the first home game. Has attended 122 straight VT football home games (every game since '94), eclipsing the 100 mark in September of '09. During the final home basketball game of his senior year, he was brought onto the court and was awarded 2 passes to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament in Philly during a timeout. The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo. Niemo currently lives in DC and speaks the Hokie gospel as often as possible. He watches over 50% of all ACC games, making him one of the most knowledgeable experts on ACC basketball.

I’m starting to think that the TechHoops comment section is wagging the dog. We make comments about the men’s and women’s basketball teams finishing in dead last place and then Berman publishes an interview with Weaver addressing the issue. We make comments about JJ not getting a technical all season, and he comes out early in the second half of the regular season finale and registers a meaningless technical foul. Now….if only the campaign to “Fire Jim Weaver” would catch fire.
