Updated Jan. 9, 2014 (Thanks, Tom, for the links!)…

Here are some updates on how Virginia Tech’s three signees for the Class of 2014 are doing in their senior seasons:

  • Justin Bibbs – Despite the fact he plays for Montverde Academy near Orlando, FL and the #1 team in the nation according to MaxPreps (#2 in the USA Today Preseason Super 25), I was able to find stats for just eight of his games.  He’s averaging 14.8 ppg in those contests and seems to be a decent 3-point shooter (has made 4 threes in a game twice).  His team is 14-0 on the season.
  • Jalen Hudson – I found stats for 9 of his 10 St. Vincent’s/St. Mary’s games so far this year.  He is averaging 18.8 ppg in those 9 contests with a high of 28 (he made 6 three-pointers in that game).  His Fighting Irish team got off to a rough start and stands at just 4-6, but they just got back their star player, V.J. King, who is rated #6 in the Class of 2016 by ESPN.
  • T.J. Lang – Based on the 12 games I was able to find stats for, the 6’7″ small forward is averaging 16.9 ppg for McGill-Toolen in Mobile, AL.  His team is 12-5 overall.  I would expect his points per game average is less than that, though, as his team only shows the top scorers for each contest.  But he is regularly scoring in the teens with a high of 23 points on the season.  As a junior, T.J. averaged 17.1 ppg and 4.9 rebounds.

Here are the scores for each of their games along with the stats I was able to find for them:

During the final home basketball game of his senior year, he was brought onto the court and was awarded 2 passes to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament in Philly during a timeout for being a "Super Fan" during his time at VT. The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo.

The Wild Hokie Club!

The Hokies experienced their worst season since the ricky "program bomb" stokes era. Sure, it would have been easy to quit on you, but did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL NO!

And we do it for free! But, just like NPR, we rely on the generosity of our loyal fans to help keep this humble Hokie website alive. That being said, see how you can help TechHoops.com make it to 10 years!

Jon King, Ben Floyd and Dan Rickenbach all got in on the action and we encourage all TechHoops heads to do the same.
