New Poll Question

With only two home games left, the Hokies are 8-8 at the Cassell. For your non math majors out there, that means the Hokies must win at least one game to assure a non-losing record at home this season.

The last time the Hokies had a losing record at home was the 2000-01 season. The coach? Yep. That guy.

The opponents are nc state on Saturday and north carolina a week later. The wolfpack are probably the best bet for a win. They’re 16-10 overall and 4-6 in ACC play, and have lost two straight.

The tar heels on the other hand, have won seven straight, and are rolling. They’ll be a much tougher opponent, at least on paper.

So, what do you think? Yes, you can easily vote by leaving a comment, but we’d much rather you use the poll on the right. Go rock the vote!

Can’t out-think this one; forget records, stats and bullets from the talking heads. The answer has to be the team that is most likely to come in over confident and undisciplined and settle for perimeter jumpers. Wouldn’t that team be a Mark Gottfried coached State? While I recognize that Roy Williams isn’t Dean Smith either, I think that the major difference is that Carolina (Williams) finally realizes that they CAN”T shoot and therefore, won’t. This is evidenced by the diminished role of McDonald and the increased minutes of Meeks and Johnson. Combined with McAdoo, that group up front scares the daylights out of me. State may make the jumpers, in which Tech will lose in any case. However, I don’t think that the Heels will take them. Page will pound it inside and McAdoo is a elbow/high presence. Tech can’t man up either team so my vote is for whichever team is more likely to settle for jumpers and then hope that they don’t shoot them well enough to score the 58 (my guess) that it will take to beat Tech 58-57. My vote is State. Isn’t that discouraging?

Mark – I agree – if we can’t beat state, I think 8-10 is in the bag. I think unc will attack the tin from the post like you said and get our bigs (who can’t match up in terms of strength) into foul trouble.
