ESPN Ranks Buzz 38th Best in the Nation

ESPN ranked the top 50 coaches in college hoops, and Buzz Williams came in at #38 (although as you’ll see on the right windowpane of this article, Myron Medcalf of ESPN thought this was wrong and Buzz should have been higher on the list).

They’ve only posted #25-50 so far, but here are the ACC coaches on the list:

  • #45 – Mike Brey, notre dame
  • #38 – Buzz Williams, Virginia Tech
  • #28 – Jim Larranage, miami
  • #25 – Jamie Dixon, (arm) pitt

The Hokie Bird made the award on behalf of Athletic Director Jim Weaver. Niemo was known to be in the front row of every home game with his familiar red afro hairdo.

Still can’t believe we got this guy. Doubt Seth would be on this list if he were still an active coach. And even if he would, to be able to dump him and land a guy like Buzz after the 2 years we just had (at a football school) is pretty incredible. Can we go dancing soon, pleeaasse?

Tech has landed a transfer, 6’7″ PF Zach LeDay from USF. He’s a rising junior and I’m guessing he’ll have to redshirt next year. We’ve also got JuCo player, Shane Henry, visiting on the 6th. He’d be eligible to contribute right away. Get ‘em Buzz!
