Career Stats: Lewis Witcher

Lewis is one of Tech’s most heralded recruits from the state of Virginia. Witcher was one of Rivals.com’s Top 100 players (#99) in the 2006 Class and was a four-star recruit. He received offers from two other ACC schools that I know of: maryland and wake forest. Lewis averaged 18.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, and had 110 blocks while being named first-team all-state and The Roanoke Times Player of the Year his senior year at Franklin County High School.

Lewis started 20 games in his freshman year at the forward position, but saw his starts and minutes drop as the Hokies went with a smaller lineup in the second half of ACC play.

Witcher has shown decent touch inside on his shots, although he has ugly form. But it is effective for the most part.

Witcher will have to become stronger in the off-season to be able to battle inside against ACC low post players. He is not much of a shot blocker yet, but he can be. He needs to learn to be more aggressive and play better help defense (Cheick can teach him). Lewis needs to be more assertive on the offensive end and find his shots. He’s improved from the line as the season has gone on after being terrible at the start.

Greatest Game: Ahead of him. Hasn’t happened yet.
