  • Garland is the 3rd leading scorer in Philly Public School history (Wilt Chamberlain is next ahead of him).
  • He eclipsed the 2,000 point mark in his HS career, just like fellow 2010 signee Jarell Eddie – Article
  • Nominated for the 2010 McDonald’s All-American games, one of 31 players in Pennsylvania selected.  VT’s other signee for 2010, Jarell Eddie, also was nominated.
  • Named First Team All-City by the Philadelphia Daily News
  • First Team All-State Class AAAA by the Associated Press
  • Averaged 28.9 ppg as a junior, making him the leading scorer in the Philly Public League and Philly in general
  • Signed with VT on November 11th, 2009

2009-10 Game Stats (as of 3/3/10):

  • 25.3 ppg (607 points) in the 24 games I have stats for; missing 3 games.
  • Team is 19-8.  Bartram won the Philly Public League AAAA title!  But they lost in the Public League Title Game.
  • 3/2: Garland scored 32 of his team’s 46 points, including 6 of 12 on threes, but Bartram lost to Imhotep in the Philly Public League Title Game 58-46.
  • 2/28: Tyrone nailed a game high 23 points in the Philly Public League Semifinals as John Bartram won 75-63 over Dobbins, the AAA champs.
  • 2/27: Team won 89-87 in 4 OTs!  (no stats available).  Bartram won the Public League AAAA title!
  • 2/23: Garland scored 27 points, including 3 three-pointers.  Also added 5 rebounds and 5 assists as Bartram won 78-61 over University City in the Public League Class AAAA Semifinals.
  • 2/22: Tyrone poured in 33 points, the fourth time he’s surpassed the 30 point mark, in a 75-72 last second win over Olney in the First Round of the Public League Playoffs.
  • 2/17: Tyrone scored 21 points (10 in the first quarter) in a 71-58 win over Southern.
  • 2/16: 13 points in limited action as Bartram woodshedded Edison 69-27.
  • 2/4: 19 points on 7/15 shooting and 5 assists in a 72-56 win over Olney.  His team is 11-1 in the Public League and 13-7 overall.
  • 2/2: 25 points in a 79-70 loss to Frankford.
  • 1/31: [missing stats] lost 53-43.
  • 1/29: 26 points (game high) as Bartram won 75-56 over Lincoln.
  • 1/28: 25 points (game high) in a 67-55 win over Washington.
  • 1/24: 34 points (game high) – 69-63 loss to Boys & Girls of NY (I think they just played the boys).
  • 1/21: 19 points including 3 clutch FTs in OT for a 63-62 win over Germantown.
  • 1/19: 28 points (game high) in 72-55 win over Northeast.  Also had 4 steals.
  • 1/14: 43 points!  12/24 from the field including 4 threes, and 15/26 from the line (imagine if he had hit his FTs).  Won 78-72 over Overbrook.
  • 1/12: 20 points, including 8 in the 4th quarter, to pace Bartram to a 60-52 win.
  • 1/9: Just 8 points in a 78-51 beat down loss to Imhotep Charter.
  • 1/7: Stat-stuffer 12 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals.  Won 76-37 over Martin Luther King.
  • 1/5: 32 points (8/11 from the foul line in the 2nd half) in 59-56 nail-biter win.  71 points in 2 days!
  • 1/4: 39 points including 7 three-pointers.  Team won 96-64.
  • 1/2/10: 26 points but team lost 77-66 to Shipley.
  • 12/28/09: 27 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal.  Hit 6 three-pointers.  Bartram won 72-65 over Chester.
  • 12/26/09: 26 points (game high) in 60-57 loss to Archbishop Carroll.
  • 12/22/09: 82-51 win [stats missing]
  • 12/15/09: Game high 25 points as Bartram beat Engineering & Science 66-50.
  • 12/12/09: Game high 24 points in the West Chester SPBP Classic as Bartram lost to Malvern Prep 61-50.
