|Montrezl Harrell||PF||6’7″||225||Hargrave (VA via NC)|
|Marshall Wood||F||6’8″||202||Rustburg (VA)|
Scholarships Remaining in this Class:
- Min: 2 (assuming VT puts Allan Cheney on the injured list — i.e. can still receive a scholarship, but he cannot ever play ball for VT again)
- Max: 3 (if JT Thompson does not return next year)
- Likely Targets: The guard position. VT has 2 PGs back next year (Green – Sr, Rankin – So), but just 1 true SG (Brown – SG). Eddie could move to SG, move Doe Doe to the SF, but that would leave depth issues inside.
This isn’t a flashy recruiting class, but no one expected it to be after the Hokies hauled in their greatest recruiting class ever last year, and best recruit since Dell Curry in Dorian Finney-Smith.
The signees (and both signed in the early period) addressed Tech’s need for big men. Montrezl Harrell is a unanimous Top 100 recruit who will play inside. He’s not a big big, but he’ll play like a beast.
Marshall Wood is a tall, skinny kid who could play inside or move out to the wing. He’ll stretch defenses with his jumper, but has amazing vertical hops and will dunk with the best.
