[...] Summary: VT will not have a single guy over 6′9″ next season (we miss you, Gus Gilchrist). So look for the Hokies to play musical lineups. Delaney and Thorns at PG, Hudson and Vassallo at SG, Vassallo and Washington at SF, Washington, Witcher, Allen, Thompson, and Diakite at the two low post spots. [...]

[...] If true, J.T. can help fill some of the big holes the Hokies had in the low post with the graduation of Coleman Collins and Chris Tucker, with the news that Robert Krabbendam would be leaving VT to play pro ball for the Amsterdam Astronauts (didn’t know Amstel had a space program), and with “Gus Gilchrist’s decision not to come to VT this year. The only true* forwards or centers that are returning for the Hokies next year that have played in more than 10 games in their career are junior Cheick Diakite and sophomore Lewis Witcher. Terrance Vinson will be a sophomore next year, but he has yet to show he is an ACC caliber player. [...]

[...] If there was one recruit we lost before next season, I would have guessed it would have been Gus Gilchrist or Terrell Bell (from Georgia). I had the chance to meet Gus, Malcolm Delaney, Jeff Allen, and Dorenzo Hudson at the Capital Classic in college park, maryland in early April. Gus just did not seem to be as tight with the other three recruits in the game as they were with each other. Granted, the other three practiced and played together that week, and Delaney and Allen played together at Hargrave this past season. But still, Gus just did not seem to have the same connection they had.
